Greg Holland Closes Out Thursday's Win Over Athletics
3 years agoKansas City Royals relief pitcher Greg Holland was called upon to close out the team's 6-1 win over the Oakland Athletics on Thursday. He pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing no hits or walks while recording one strikeout. It was a non-save situation, but it was the closest thing to a save opportunity the team has provided lately as they had a five-game losing streak going into Thursday's game. Josh Staumont returned from the injured list last weekend. He was the team's primary closer before he suffered a knee injury. Staumont should still be seen as the most likely candidate for saves going forward, but don't write off Holland. Fantasy managers who are desperate for saves can consider adding Holland in case he winds up splitting saves with Staumont.
