Greg Holland Blows Save Wednesday, Closer Role Potentially up for Grabs in Arizona
5 years agoAfter blowing two saves on back-to-back nights, Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo suggested that closer Greg Holland may not be in line for the next save opportunity according to The Arizona Republic writer Nick Piecoro. Following the loss, Lovullo, "was hesitant to deliver a vote of confidence when asked if Holland were [sic] still his closer," Piecoro writes, as Holland is now 2-for-5 in save opportunities with an 8.44 ERA over his last seven games. Yoshihisa Hirano seems like the likely candidate next in line for saves after posting a 1.54 ERA with two holds and 11 strikeouts over his last 12 games. In deeper leagues, Yoan Lopez and Andrew Chafin are both interesting speculative adds for saves in the D-Backs bullpen.
