Greg Bird's Struggles Continue In Tampa Bay Loss
6 years agoThe New York Yankees continue to give first baseman Greg Bird opportunities as the starting first baseman, but he just can’t seem to get in a rhythm. The 26-year-old, who once again has dealt with injuries this season, went hitless in four plate appearances Wednesday as the Yankees lost to the Tampa Bay Rays. Bird is hitting just .215 this season and has been especially worse over his last 15 games, hitting just .140. He hasn’t homered since late July and has driven in just two runs this month. While the Yankees will continue to play him as they don’t have any fixed options at first base, his struggles have now entered an extended period of time. Outside of his promising rookie stint in 2015, he’s never quite been an effective batter.
