Greg Bird Placed On Injured List, Mike Ford Called Up
6 years agoThe New York Yankees placed first baseman Greg Bird (foot) on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday with a left plantar fascia tear and called up infielder Mike Ford from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding move. Outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury was also moved to the 60-day injured list. Bird's injured list stint is retroactive to April 14. Bird continues to be a disappointment for fantasy owners and the Yankees, and he's likely to miss substantial time with this injury. Luke Voit will see the majority of starts at first moving forward. Ford, 26, was hitting a nice .410/.467/.897 with five homers and 14 RBI in just 10 games in the minors this year. He hit .251 with 16 long balls and 54 RBI in 108 games in two minor league stops in 2018. Ford is merely one to monitor in dynasty/keeper leagues for the time being.
