Greg Bird Homers Twice In Yankees Win
6 years agoGreg Bird’s performance at the plate has been the subject of much discussion since he returned to the New York Yankees after missing the first two months of the season with an ankle injury. On Friday, the club increased the pressure on the 25-year-old by recalling Brandon Drury from Triple-A after migraines, blurred vision and a drop in the team depth chart cost him his starting time. Bird was given the start on Friday against the Red Sox, and he had his best game of the season. Beginning a big series in the Bronx with the division rivals, he smacked two home runs in what would be an 8-1 victory. Perhaps Drury’s arrival is the jolt Bird needs to return to the form we’ve seen from him in the past.
