Greg Bird Breaks Up No-Hitter
6 years agoThe New York Yankees offense did not show up in Wednesday night's series finale against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field. While struggling ace Luis Severino pitched quite well, the offense failed to record a hit through the first seven innings. After Luke Voit reached on a walk with one out, however, fellow first baseman Greg Bird ripped a double into the left center field gap, driving in New York's lone run of the game. It was Bird's second start of the series and first hit in two weeks. The Yankees ultimately lost and Bird's status with the club certainly doesn't seem to have changed, as he should remain the backup first baseman behind Voit.
