Packers Defense Faced Difficult Task in Week 5
6 years agoThe Green Bay Packers defense and special teams had a weak performance in Week 5 against the Detroit Lions. They surrendered 31 points in the game with three sacks and no turnovers forced. Key pass rusher Nick Perry was also hurt in the game. It wasn’t necessarily a bad performance. The defense was put in difficult situations on account of Green Bay fumbles and special team errors that gave the Detroit offense a short field to work with. Still this is a big drop off from the prior week’s shutout of the Buffalo Bills. The defense has clearly improved after moving on from long time coordinator Dom Capers. Still, some of the old trends seem to hold. You can have faith in Green Bay’s defense against inexperienced quarterbacks and should avoid them against veterans. The defense should only be used in fantasy as a bye week fill-in when given a favorable match up.
