Green Bay Invested in Ty Montgomery at Running Back
7 years agoDespite speculation that he may return to playing wide receiver, all indications are pointing to Green Bay Packers running back Ty Montgomery remaining at the running back position. After Green Bay cut wide receiver Jordy Nelson, the speculation about Montgomery heated up, but according to ESPN reporter Rob Demovsky, both Montgomery and head coach Mike McCarthy feel he is best suited playing out of the backfield. Montgomery has remained in Green Bay this offseason to work with the Packers strength and conditioning coach. Montgomery is hopeful the extra work will help him avoid injuries, which have plagued him his entire career. Montgomery will be fighting for snaps against the dynamic runner Aaron Jones and the dependable Jamaal Williams, each of whom had impressive, albeit flawed, rookie seasons in 2017. It is hard to predict who will get the most work of the three, but it would seem logical that Montgomery and Jones would split the majority of looks.
