Grayson Rodriguez Continues To Make Case For Rotation Spot
2 years agoBaltimore Orioles starting pitcher prospect Grayson Rodriguez tossed 2 2/3 innings on Tuesday versus the Minnesota Twins. The big hurler allowed three hits, one run, two walks and recorded four strikeouts on the afternoon. The 23-year-old had a phenomenal 2022 campaign going 6-2 with a 2.62 ERA alongside 109 strikeouts in 75 1/3 innings. With the exception of one outing in High-A and two in Double-A, Rodriguez spent the year in Triple-A. Rodriguez was on the cusp of being called up last season, but suffered a Grade 2 lat strain that sidelined him for most of the second half. Now healthy, Rodriguez is being given every chance to earn a spot in the rotation this spring. Even if he earns a rotation spot, the Orioles could still limit him throughout points of the season, but he will be worth rostering in all formats with his sky high potential and strikeout ability.
