Gleyber Torres Goes Yard Three Times In Grapefruit League
3 years agoNew York Yankees second baseman/shortstop Gleyber Torres drew some attention for his offensive display this spring. Over 12 games, Torres slashed .294/.351/.559 and hit three home runs. The 25-year-old is coming off a 2021 season that was extremely disappointing across the board. He had a .259/.331/.366 slash line with just nine home runs over 127 games. His peripheral stats were equally uninspiring as his 87.1 mph average exit velocity ranked in the bottom 15% of the league. Torres will be gaining second base eligibility in fantasy this year and that could be his saving grace as it's a much weaker position than shortstop. If he's able to build off his promising spring and find the power bat we saw in 2019 when he crushed 38 home runs, he could be a meaningful fantasy player in 2022.
