Gleyber Torres Belts 20th Home Run In Thursday's Loss
1 year agoNew York Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run and a strikeout in a 6-5 loss to the Washington Nationals on Thursday. Torres gave the Yankees a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning when he took Nats starter Patrick Corbin deep with DJ LeMahieu aboard. The 26-year-old's other two hits in the contest were both singles. The Yankees' struggles in August have been well-documented but Torres has been far from the problem. He's slashing .333/. 407/.543 with four home runs, eight RBI, and four stolen bases over 81 at-bats this month. He's had an inconsistent season overall, though, much like the Yankees as a team. Torres is rocking a .268/.334/.442 batting line to go along with 20 home runs, 52 RBI, and 12 stolen bases over 477 at-bats on the year.
