Giants Sign Gary Sanchez
2 years agoThe San Francisco Giants have signed free-agent catcher Gary Sanchez to a minor-league deal. The 30-year-old didn't have much of a market this offseason, but he has finally found a home. Sanchez will report to the team's spring training complex in Arizona before joining a minor league affiliate. It's worth noting that his deal does include an opt-out if he's not promoted to the active roster by May 1. The Giants are already carrying three catchers in Joey Bart, Roberto Perez, and Blake Sabol. Possibly, the Giants are looking for extra depth or a designated hitter. Sanchez hit .205/.282/.377 with 16 homers and 61 RBI with the Minnesota Twins last season. It's hard to imagine him having much fantasy value this season.
