2 years agoThe New York Giants don't have much interest in signing franchise-tagged running back Saquon Barkley to a long-term deal at this point, according to sources. The two sides tried to work something out, but nothing got done because the two sides weren't close. The $10.1 million franchise tag is a good deal for the G-Men and they are content to leave things that way for now. Barkley isn't happy with the tag, though, which is why he has decided not to sign it or report to offseason workouts, which begin next week. The 26-year-old isn't expected to be a training camp holdout, but the 2023 season could certainly be Barkley's last in New York. He will be a strong RB1 candidate after putting up a career-high 1,312 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns in 2022.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
