Giants In Talks With Jorge Soler
9 months agoThe San Francisco Giants are in talks with free-agent outfielder Jorge Soler. The Cuban slugger is coming off a big season with the Marlins in 2023, hitting .250 with 36 home runs and an .853 OPS across 137 games. As a result, Soler opted out of the final season of his contract and became a free agent in early November. The 31-year-old led the American League with 48 home runs in the 2019 season, the only such season in which he surpassed his 36 long balls from the 2023 campaign. The Giants added international free agent outfielder Jung Hoo Lee this winter but Soler is likely being eyed as the club's primary designated hitter as infielder Wilmer Flores is currently projected to see the most reps at DH in 2024. Soler's big-time power makes him a solid fantasy asset on an annual basis.
