Giants Agree With Golden Tate
6 years agoThe New York Giants agreed to terms with free-agent wide receiver Golden Tate on a four-year, $37.5 million deal with $23 million fully guaranteed on Thursday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Tate had 74 catches (113 targets) for 795 yards and four touchdowns in 15 games with the Lions and Eagles last season, but he was especially a disappointment after his trade to Philly. He essentially becomes the team's No. 1 receiver after they traded Odell Beckham Jr. to the Browns a day earlier. Tate could see his production go up, but he's more of a yard-after-catch specialist on short and intermediate routes. However, his possession style might be a good fit with quarterback Eli Manning and his declining arm strength. The 30-year-old Tate might be a sneaky third or fourth wideout in PPR leagues, but his upside has fallen.
