Giants Add Matt Barkley To Practice Squad
Matt Barkley to their practice squad on Tuesday, according to Tuesday's NFL transaction wire. Barkley hasn't played in the NFL since 2020 with the Buffalo Bills and was with the team in training camp before being cut before the regular season due to an injury. The 33-year-old has history with head coach Brian Daboll from their time together in Buffalo. Barkley will provide the G-Men with some QB insurance with Tyrod Taylor (ribs) week-to-week and Daniel Jones (neck) hoping to return in Week 9 against the Las Vegas Raiders after a three-game absence. The Giants also added Tommy Devito to their active roster on Tuesday. Barkley remains firmly off the fantasy radar in all leagues.

Matt Barkley Waived With Injury Settlement
Matt Barkley (elbow) was waived from Injured Reserve with an injury settlement. The veteran QB injured his right elbow during the preseason, and the Bills decided to release him with an injury settlement, as opposed to keeping him on IR for the rest of the year. Depending on the severity of his elbow injury, Barkley should be able to find a home elsewhere as a backup or third-stringer.

Matt Barkley Misses More Practice Time
Matt Barkley (elbow) has yet to practice since being hit late in last Saturday's preseason game against Pittsburgh. He's been sporting a brace on the sidelines while he watches the rest of his team work. His status for the preseason finale on Saturday against Chicago is uncertain. Barkley is the favorite to win the backup job in Buffalo but he threw three interceptions against the Steelers and may be losing ground to Kyle Allen. Regardless, Barkley is not worth a roster spot for fantasy managers in any format.

Matt Barkley Injured On Saturday
Matt Barkley (elbow) was injured during Saturday's preseason meeting with the Steelers. The veteran signal-caller played well during the Bills' first preseason game. However, it was a different story this time around, with Barkley throwing 93 yards and three picks off 7-for-12 passing before going down with an elbow injury. He is competing with Kyle Allen for the No. 2 spot behind Josh Allen. But Saturday's performance certainly didn't improve his chances of winning the backup job.

Bills Sign Matt Barkley Monday
Matt Barkley to an undisclosed one-year deal on Monday. Barkley was with the Carolina Panthers last year before joining the Atlanta Falcons practice squad in early January. The 31-year-old played for the Bills from 2018-20, playing in eight games (one start) and throwing for 788 yards, three touchdowns and four interceptions. The Bills recently traded for Case Keenum to be Josh Allen's backup in 2022, so Barkley will presumably serve as Buffalo's No. 3 QB this year. Barkley was initially a fourth-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013 out of USC, and he's started only seven of his 19 career games in six NFL seasons.
