Stanton was originally slated to resume his usual role as the number-two hitter in the order, though he was removed from the lineup late. The slugger had appeared in each of the last nine games, so it could just be a daily wear-and-tear situation, with the Yankees opting for caution. The team should provide an update on his status. Gary Sanchez, who was initially slated for a day off, will serve as the designated hitter and bat cleanup.--Tim Capurso
