Giancarlo Stanton Not Playing Thursday
6 months agoThe New York Yankees are giving outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton a day off on Thursday against the Kansas City Royals. Stanton will get the day off in a matinee affair after going deep in each of the last two games in Kansas City. The 34-year-old right-handed power hitter has stayed healthy in 2024 and is currently hitting .233/.288/.491 with 17 home runs, 40 RBI and 30 runs scored for the first-place Yankees. Stanton is never going to give fantasy teams a useful batting average, but as long as he can stay healthy, the power will be top notch and he'll be productive in the RBI department with the way the Yankees have been playing this year. With Stanton out, Aaron Judge will serve as the DH and bat third, while Trent Grisham will make the start in center field and hit ninth against Royals right-hander Alec Marsh.
