Giancarlo Stanton Hits Decisive Home Run
2 years agoNew York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton got to the Cleveland Guardians early in game five of the American League Division Series on Tuesday, crushing a first-inning home run off Aaron Civale to give his team a 3-0 lead. It was his only hit in four at-bats, but it was an important one as they never squandered the lead, winning 5-1, and they now head to the Championship Series. Stanton has been disappointing this postseason, hitting .125, but has gone deep twice and driven in six runs over five games. The same can be said during the regular season when the slugger slashed just .211/.297/.462, though he did hit 31 bombs with 53 runs and 78 RBI across 110 games. Stanton should stay in the middle of the Yankees lineup but will still face a tough battle against a great Houston Astros pitching staff.
