Gerson Moreno Signs Minor-League Deal With Nationals
2 years agoThe Washington Nationals signed free-agent right-hander Gerson Moreno to a minor-league deal on Friday. Moreno has never made it to the major leagues and has spent nine seasons in the minors. In 2022, he was with Double-A Erie in the Detroit Tigers organization and went 4-2 with a 3.32 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, 96 strikeouts and 33 walks in 57 innings over 48 appearances (one start). The 27-year-old has a career 3.93 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, 412 strikeouts and 187 walks in 345 2/3 minor-league innings over 240 outings (13 starts). If he wants to make his major-league debut for the rebuilding Nationals, he'll need to show better control on the mound. Moreno will most likely begin the 2023 season on the farm.
