Gerrit Cole Records Quality Start In 16th Victory
3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole notched his 16th win of the season Friday against Boston. Cole was spotted an early seven-run lead by the Yankee lineup and proceeded to cruise for five innings, with his only blemish coming in the form of a three-run homer by Rafael Devers in the sixth inning. The ace righty struck out six batters, generating 11 whiffs, five of them coming on his slider. Cole now boasts a strong 3.08 ERA with a 237:41 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 175 1/3 innings pitched. He'll look to bring fantasy managers home in his final scheduled start against the Blue Jays.
