German Marquez Shut Down For Rest Of The Season
4 months agoColorado Rockies right-hander German Marquez (elbow) has been shut down for the rest of the 2024 season after being diagnosed with a stress reaction in his right elbow. However, the good news is that there is no damage to the ligaments in his right arm. Marquez should be ready to throw in six to eight weeks, according to manager Bud Black, and will have a full offseason. The 29-year-old Venezuelan hurler worked his way back from Tommy John surgery last year but was only able to make one start in 2024 before being shut down with more elbow issues. In his lone start on July 14 against the New York Mets, Marquez gave up three earned runs while walking four and fanning three in four innings. Barring further setbacks this offseason, Marquez should be ready for spring training in 2025, but fantasy managers in mixed leagues can ignore him.
