German Marquez Set To Begin Throwing Bullpen Sessions This Week
9 months agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher German Marquez (elbow) is scheduled to start throwing bullpen sessions this week, according to general manager Bill Schmidt. Marquez, who underwent Tommy John surgery last season, hasn't had any bullpen sessions since his surgery. The 29-year-old veteran started just four games last season before landing on the injured list with an elbow issue. In those four starts, he compiled a 4.95 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 17:3 K/BB Ratio over 20 innings. The Rockies GM noted that Marquez should make it back to the starting rotation after the 2024 All-Star break, barring any setbacks. Marquez has had effective stints throughout his eight-year career but he's hard to trust every time he takes the mound due to his team context and home ballpark.
