German Marquez Making Debut Saturday
2 years agoColorado Rockies right-hander German Marquez (hamstring) is slated to make his spring debut on Saturday against the Seattle Mariners. The 28-year-old suffered a minor hamstring injury during conditioning, which caused him to withdraw from the World Baseball Classic. He recently threw a two-inning bullpen session and is ready to make his debut. Marquez is probably the most appealing fantasy pitcher out of the Rockies rotation, but he will only be an option in deeper leagues. Marquez shaped a 4.95 ERA with a 1.365 WHIP and 150 strikeouts in 2022. He pitched 181 2/3 innings and made 31 starts with a 19.3% strikeout rate. The right-hander could be moved at the trade deadline if he continues to impress at hitter-friendly Coors Field.
