German Marquez Leaves Game With Illness, Still Earns Win
3 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher German Marquez completed 6 1/3 innings on just 64 pitches against the San Diego Padres before being removed for being sick during a 7-3 win on Tuesday, according to manager Bud Black. Black said Marquez "toughed it out tonight" despite battling diarrhea earlier in the day. The 26-year-old, impressively, spun a quality start allowing three earned runs, five hits, one walk, and three homers while striking out four. The 2021 All-Star is now 11-9 with a 3.80 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and 151 K across 147 innings. Marquez will look to continue his impressive campaign at Coors against the Arizona Diamondback on Sunday.
