German Marquez Agrees To Five-Year, $43 Million Extension
6 years agoColorado Rockies starter German Marquez agreed to a five-year, $43 million contact extension on Tuesday, per Jeff Passan. The extension has a club option that can become a mutual option if Marquez manages two top-three Cy Young finishes. The 24-year-old has become the headliner on the Rockies' staff after posting a 25-18 record over the past two seasons to go along with a 4.05 ERA and 277/106 K/BB rate. Marquez is a talented young arm, and he showed off his elite stuff in his 2019 debut. He allowed one run on two hits in seven innings during a 6-1 win over the Miami Marlins on Friday. Marquez will look to prove his worth in his next start against the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday.
