Georges Niang Will Miss Saturday’s Contest
3 years agoPhiladelphia 76ers power forward Georges Niang (knee) has been ruled out for Saturday's game vs. the Pacers due to left knee tendinopathy. Niang has emerged as a solid contributor off the bench for Philly this season, with his absence likely to affect the team's three-point shooting and spacing, along with wing defense. In the short-term, Tobias Harris, Matisse Thybulle, and Furkan Korkmaz are candidates to see their minutes slightly elevated. Niang was off to a hot shooting start in April, knocking down multiple triples in each of his first four April appearances. The injury does not usually portend itself to single-game absences, but Niang's next chance to suit up will be the regular-season finale Sunday against Detroit.

Georges Niang Unavailable Friday For Hawks
1 month agoBrad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports that Atlanta Hawks forward Georges Niang won't debut with his new club on Friday versus the Milwaukee Bucks. The trade that recently sent him from the Cavs is still being finalized. Niang's next chance to play is on Saturday on the road versus the Wizards in Washington. The 31-year-old, across 51 games in Cleveland, averaged 8.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 20.6 minutes per contest. His role with his new team is uncertain, so he will likely have a limited impact on fantasy for now.

Georges Niang Joins The Hawks
1 month agoThe Atlanta Hawks acquired forward Georges Niang along with Caris LeVert, three second-round picks, and two swaps in exchange for De'Andre Hunter. Hunter became expendable after the emergence of Jalen Johnson before his season-ending shoulder injury and the strong rookie showing of No. 1 pick Zaccharie Risacher. Niang and LeVert could help fill in while Johnson is out, but more likely they'll mix into the second unit behind Risacher. Niang played 51 games for the Cavs this season, starting just one contest. He averaged 8.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in his 20.6 minutes per game. If he steps into a larger role, he could be a decent source of three-pointers and rebounds, but his role with his new team is uncertain at this point.

Georges Niang Signs With Cavs
2 years agoAccording to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Georges Niang is signing a contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers. It will be a three-year, $26 million deal, but it hasn't been reported whether it contains a player option. The 30-year-old forward was a good role player the last few seasons and a key member on several playoff teams. He averaged 8.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 78 games for the 76ers last season. The Cavaliers have struggled to get production from the wing position, so this signing surely should help.
