Houston Astros center fielder George Springer has had a rocky start to his 2020 season and manager Dusty Baker has chosen to sit him down for Wednesday’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. In addition to his 1-for-20 start at the dish, Springer is also reportedly dealing with knee soreness after colliding with an outfield wall. In his place, the speedy Myles Straw will man center Wednesday, with Kyle Tucker slotting into the leadoff spot in the lineup, possibly making him a more attractive DFS commodity. Springer’s next chance to get back on the field comes Friday when the Astros travel to take on the Angels, who have not yet announced a starter.--Jesse Borek

Toronto Blue Jays designated hitter George Springer went 1-for-1 with a home run in his team's 5-3 win against the Cleveland Guardians on Friday. The Connecticut native scored twice, walked twice, swiped a bag, and reached on an error (catcher's interference on a six-pitch at-bat). Springer was productive again as he continues his torrid stretch to start the season. He's slashing a robust .314/.423/.523, with seven doubles, 12 off his total from last year in 459 fewer at-bats. His batted ball metrics support the production, as the 35-year-old is sporting a 50% hard-hit rate and 92.6 MPH exit velocity -- marks he hasn't sniffed in years. Furthermore, he's eclipsed his hardest hit ball of 2024 (112.3 MPH) in the early going. Health has always been a knock against Springer, but it appears he'll be a strong option if he can stay on the field.--Alex Ciulla

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer (wrist) remains out of action for Wednesday's series finale against the Atlanta Braves at the Rogers Centre. Alan Roden will get another start in left field and will bat sixth against Braves right-hander Spencer Strider (elbow), who is making his first start of the season. This will be Springer's third straight game on the bench as he deals with inflammation in his left wrist. Toronto has a day off on Thursday before starting a weekend series against the visiting Seattle Mariners on Friday, so fantasy managers will want to check back then to see if the 35-year-old veteran is back in the lineup. As of right now, Toronto is treating Springer as day-to-day, and he could even be available off the bench on Wednesday. Roden clubbed his first home run of the season in Tuesday's win over Atlanta but will be in store for a tough matchup against Strider on Wednesday.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer (wrist) will miss his second-straight contest on Tuesday evening when the Blue Jays continue a series against the Atlanta Braves. Springer suffered this injury during Sunday's contest against the Baltimore Orioles. Fantasy managers should continue to keep an eye on his status as he works his way back from this injury. As a result, Addison Barger will get the nod in right field, while Alan Roden and Myles Straw cover left and center, respectively. Springer has enjoyed a strong start to the early season, posting a stellar .375/.436/.604 slash line. He has tallied two home runs and swiped two bags. Under the hood, he has generated an elite .408 xwOBA. Fantasy managers should not target the Toronto offense this evening in DFS, facing Atlanta right-hander Spencer Schwellenbach.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer (wrist) is dealing with inflammation in his left wrist and is not in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the visiting Atlanta Braves at Rogers Centre. The good news is that X-rays that Springer took in Baltimore came back negative, and he's considered day-to-day. He also underwent an MRI exam, which came back negative, and manager John Schneider said Springer would take batting practice and see how he feels. The 35-year-old left Sunday's win over the Orioles after injuring his wrist during an at-bat. Springer has dodged a serious injury, but he won't play on Monday, and fantasy managers will need to check back to see if he's active on Tuesday. Alan Roden is drawing the start in left field on Monday and is hitting sixth against Braves right-hander Grant Holmes. He has never faced Holmes in his career.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
