George Kirby Looking To Narrow The Gap Tuesday Versus Astros
1 year agoSeattle Mariners pitcher George Kirby will look to narrow his club's deficit in the playoff race when he takes on the rival Houston Astros at home on Tuesday night. After taking a 5-1 loss to the Astros on Monday, the Mariners now trail Houston by 1.5 games for the final Wild Card spot in the American League while they're now four games behind the Texas Rangers for first place in the AL West. The right-hander has enjoyed a fine sophomore season, working to a healthy 3.58 ERA and MLB-best 2.5% BB% across 29 starts and 178 2/3 innings of work. The 25-year-old sports a 3.10 ERA while limiting opponents to a .606 OPS across 81 1/3 innings at home as he looks to improve his club's playoff chances on Tuesday.
