Geoff Hartlieb Throws Perfect Inning Against Yankees
4 years agoPittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher Geoff Hartlieb threw a perfect inning of relief on Saturday in a 7-5 loss to the Yankees. Hartlieb opened up the fifth innings with back-to-back strikeouts against Brett Gardner and DJ LeMahieu before getting Aaron Judge to ground out to second to end the inning. Hartlieb has not allowed a baserunner through his first three appearances this spring, as he has three strikeouts in three innings of work. Despite a rough 2020 campaign in which he had 19 walks and 19 strikeouts in 22 1/3 innings of work, Hartlieb has the potential to be a high-strikeout middle reliever, and if he cracks the Opening Day roster he would be a solid add in SV/HLD leagues.
