Gavin Williams 2025 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Looking To Bounce Back, Meet Him In The Middle Of 2023 And 2024
20 mins agoAfter a strong debut in 2023, Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Gavin Williams' 2024 did not go as hoped. The righty hit the IL before the season even began due to right elbow inflammation and did not return to the big league mound until July. The rust was evident from the start, allowing five earned runs in his season debut and logging just three quality starts out of his 16 total starts, even getting roughed up in his lone postseason start. The strikeouts were still there (23.8 percent K%, 9.36 K/9), but Stuff+ on his four-seamer dropped from 112 to 97 and we saw a corresponding increase in opponent batting average on the pitch from .250 to .286. Maybe the 4.61 SIERA he finished '23 with pointed to this coming, however, the good news is that the former first-round draft pick ended '24 with a 4.19 SIERA, much better than the actual 4.86 ERA he posted. ATC projections see a better season ahead for the 25-year-old with an 8-8 record, 4.02 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and a K-BB% of 15.2%.
