2025 has been very hit or miss for Gary Woodland. His best finish came at the Texas Children's Houston Open, where he finished runner-up to Min Woo Lee. That style of golf course is very similar to this week's venue, TPC Craig Ranch. The course measures 7,414 yards and is one of the least challenging venues on the PGA Tour. The fairways are some of the widest, and the rough is some of the shortest, which gives players more freedom to swing away off the tee. This could play very nicely for Woodland, who has consistently been one of the best drivers of the golf ball, including this year, where he ranks 11th in average driving distance (313.3 yards) and 49th in strokes gained off the tee (+0.286). He could be a strong value play in DFS formats this week.

After three straight missed cuts earlier in the season, Gary Woodland has started to regain his form, making four consecutive cuts and posting a runner-up finish at the Houston Open. He'll now reunite with Lee Hodges for the second straight year at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. The duo was unable to make the cut in 2024, but both enter this year's event playing much more consistent golf. Woodland has been especially solid off the tee, ranking 49th in strokes gained per round (plus-0.234), 50th in approach (plus-0.286), and is sitting 11th on tour in driving distance. His power and precision off the tee should be a valuable weapon in the team format, and with both players trending in the right direction, this duo shapes up as a sneaky pairing to watch closely this week.

Gary Woodland came so close to winning his first tournament in six years at the Texas Children's Houston Open. The American golfer fired a scintillating 62 to almost snatch an improbable victory. Despite struggling some at the Valero Texas Open, Woodland has the chance to at least surprise a little at Hilton Head. He has been okay with the putter but the RBC Heritage has small greens so three-putts should not be as much of an issue. Woodland may see a boost to his birdie average which ranks only 114th at 3.7. He hits greens well, ranks 42nd on approach, 16th in proximity, and 16th in approaches greater than 200 yards. Woodland's putter could get hot like in Houston, so a +650 Top 10 is even a possibility.

It was an inspiring week in Houston for Gary Woodland, who posted a final-round 62 on Sunday to leap into a T2 finish. This was the highest finish the former Jayhawk has had since returning from brain surgery 18 months ago. He had been showing signs of form all season, as he ranks fourth in driving distance (315.2) and 12th in proximity to the hole (34 feet, six inches). His strokes-gained metrics haven't necessarily been there, though, as his 46th ranking in strokes gained on approach (plus-0.389) is his highest ranking. He should be licking his chops coming to TPC San Antonio after finishing T6 and T8 in his last two starts in this event, especially if his dominant putting we saw at Memorial Park continues -- he gained 8.72 strokes. At $10,000 on FanDuel, Woodland seems to be peaking at a very opportune time.
