Gary Woodland Will Battle Driving Inaccuracy At TPC Potomac
3 years agoGary Woodland has lost strokes putting in four of his last five starts. He gains most of his strokes off the tee as a result of his distance while sacrificing accuracy. At a course that demands more accuracy off the tee than tour average, Woodland's driving inaccuracies may haunt him this week. If he can keep his drives in the fairway, he can lean on his impressive approach play, gaining over half a stroke per round in most of his starts this year.

Gary Woodland In Great Form Heading Into Genesis Invitational
1 month agoGary Woodland has started 2025 in great form, recording three straight top-25 finishes to begin the year. He now looks ahead to the Genesis Invitational, which will be held at Torrey Pines. Woodland has an extensive history at this course with five top-20 finishes in his last 12 appearances here. He has driven the ball at a ridiculous average of 326.0 yards, the second-best mark on tour. He also ranks 13th in strokes gained from tee to green, 18th off the tee, and 30th on approach. Over the last 12 months, Woodland is also in the 92nd percentile in proximity from 150-200 yards, a range that accounts for 39.6% of all approach shots at Torrey Pines. Given his great form and extensive course history, Woodland is a strong option for fantasy managers at his $6,600 price tag on DraftKings.

Gary Woodland A Strong Value Play At WM Phoenix Open
1 month agoGary Woodland has started the year strong, finishing T16 at the Sony Open and T22 at Pebble Beach. He now turns his attention to the WM Phoenix Open, an event he's played 15 times with 10 made cuts, five top-30 finishes, and a win in 2018. This course rewards good drivers, and Woodland excels in that department, ranking fifth in total driving, third in driving distance, and 20th in strokes gained off the tee. He also ranks in the 80th percentile for proximity on approach from 150-200 yards, a distance that accounts for 42.6% of all approach shots at TPC Scottsdale. Given his solid form and extensive course history, Woodland is well worth his price tag of $7,100 on DraftKings.

Gary Woodland Looking For Consistency At Torrey Pines
2 months agoGary Woodland recorded a T16 finish at the Sony Open in Hawaii, but prior to that, his results had been inconsistent. Over his previous five starts, Woodland posted a missed cut, T33, T9, T16, and another missed cut. Woodland has played 15 times at the Farmers Insurance Open, missing the cut only twice and finishing as high as T9 in 2019. At Torrey Pines, more than 26% of all approach shots come from over 200 yards, and Woodland ranked 17th on tour in approaches from 200-225 yards last season. However, Woodland may struggle to avoid bogeys on this challenging course, as he ranked 165th in bogey-avoidance percentage last year. Priced at $7,200 on DraftKings, fantasy managers should weigh his solid course history against recent inconsistencies before including him in their lineups.

Gary Woodland Aims For Better 2025 Debut In Hawaii
2 months agoGary Woodland began 2024 in the worst possible way. The American golfer missed three cuts in a row and then began a pattern of alternating missed cuts until May. Woodland seemed to right things somewhat and even had his lone Top 10 result at the Shriners Children's Open. However, a 74 to open the RSM Classic raised more questions than answers. Woodland's putting issues aside, he ranked 169th in driving accuracy (54.97%). Mistakes around the green were compounded by averaging 30.04 putts per opening round (170th). That number dropped to 28.8 by Sunday. Then again, he missed 11 cuts in 26 tournaments. Woodland can drive a ball 313+ yards but errant shots trouble potential fantasy golf options.
