Gary Sanchez Walks It Off For the Yankees
7 years agoAfter getting no-hit for over five innings Thursday afternoon in the Bronx against the Minnesota Twins, the New York Yankees offense finally went to work in the late innings. In the seventh inning, they finally got on the board but still entered the bottom of the ninth down 3-1. After an error put leadoff hitter Didi Gregorius at second, Giancarlo Stanton’s infield single put two runners on to begin the frame. Up stepped star Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez, who promptly delivered a walk-off three-run home run to left field. It was New York’s sixth consecutive victory as they climbed into sole possession of second place in the American League East.
