6 years agoNew York Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez (hip/groin) will be placed on the disabled list on Monday. Kyle Higashioka is expected to take his place on the active roster and will provide depth behind Austin Romine. Sanchez sustained the injury while running to first base during Sunday’s marathon game against the Tampa Bay Rays. The extent of his injury will be revealed after an MRI on Monday, so fantasy owners who have waited for him to turn his disappointing season around will have to hold their breath until then. For now, Romine will be the Yankees primary catching option. Higashioka should be avoided, but Romine is intriguing. In part-time duty this season, he’s hit .305. Fantasy players scrambling for a catcher now could do worse than Romine.--Mauricio Castillo
