Garrett Gilbert To Start Tuesday?
3 years agoSigns continue to point to Washington Football Team quarterback Garrett Gilbert starting on Tuesday night against the Philadelphia Eagles, but it's pending a final round of COVID-19 testing for Taylor Heinicke and Kyle Allen, according to sources. All Washington needs is one negative test for Heinicke or Allen, and one of them would be eligible to play against Philly. Washington just signed Gilbert from the Patriots practice squad after both Heinicke and Allen tested positive for COVID. If Gilbert is forced to start against the Eagles, it would be just his second career start, with the first coming last year with Dallas. Fantasy managers will need to downgrade the team's offensive skill players if Gilbert is under center Tuesday. Kyle Shurmur would be backing Gilbert up if Heinicke and Allen are both inactive.
