Garrett Crochet To Have Tommy John Surgery
3 years agoChicago White Sox relief pitcher Garrett Crochet (elbow) will have Tommy John surgery and will miss all of this season. The talented 22-year-old left-hander left his Cactus League outing early on Thursday against the Cincinnati Reds, and he could also be delayed to start next season. Crochet was in line to transition to a starting role by 2023, but this injury could push that back for at least another year. He had a solid 2.82 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 65 strikeouts and 27 walks in 54 1/3 innings in his first full MLB season last year. The White Sox also traded reliever Craig Kimbrel to the Los Angeles Dodgers this week, but Liam Hendriks is an elite closer, and the offseason additions of Kendall Graveman and Joe Kelly should help make up for Crochet's injury.
