Garrett Cooper Still Out Tuesday
2 years agoMiami Marlins first baseman Garrett Cooper (illness) remains out of the starting lineup on Tuesday against the Atlanta Braves and right-hander Bryce Elder. Cooper had stomach issues on Sunday and was pulled from that contest early, and apparently he's still not feeling well enough to play. With the 32-year-old out of action, Yuli Gurriel will man first base and bat third, while outfielder Jorge Soler serves as the designated hitter and bats second against Elder. There's a good chance we'll see Cooper make his return to the lineup on Wednesday. He's off to a solid start for the Fish in 2023, going 25-for-92 (.272) with two doubles, a triple, three home runs, 13 RBI and five runs scored in 24 games played.
