Garrett Cooper Returns From Illness
1 year agoMiami Marlins first baseman/outfielder Garrett Cooper (illness) is back in the starting lineup on Tuesday against right-hander Tyler Glasnow and the Tampa Bay Rays. He's starting at first base and batting third in the lineup. Cooper was scratched from Sunday's game against the Colorado Rockies with an illness, but he's apparently feeling good enough to play on Tuesday. The 32-year-old veteran is hitting .262/.302/.431 on the year with 12 long balls, 44 RBI and 27 runs in 290 at-bats for the Fish in a regular role between first base and the outfield. Cooper his hit better in the month of July, going 18-for-61 (.295) with two homers, two doubles, eight RBI and seven runs scored in 17 games, although he's facing a tough matchup in his return from an illness.
