Gardner Minshew To Be Indy's Backup QB
1 year agoThe Indianapolis Colts named rookie first-round quarterback Anthony Richardson as their starting QB on Tuesday, leaving veteran Gardner Minshew in the backup role. There was a chance that the Colts would go with the more experienced option in Minshew if they felt that Richardson needed a bit more development (mostly as a passer) before jumping into the starting role in his first NFL season. But apparently the Colts have liked what they've seen from the fourth overall pick during training camp and after one preseason game. The 27-year-old Minshew is a very capable backup should Richardson miss any time with an injury in 2023, but he's off the fantasy radar for now with the regular season quickly approaching.
