Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew II faces a stiff test in the Raiders' upcoming Week 4 matchup against the Cleveland Browns. Minshew was ineffective in Week 3 against the Panthers, failing to get much going until the game was out of reach. He was even benched for Aidan O'Connell. He will start against the Browns, but his job will only be more challenging, as the Browns defense is still one of the best in the league. Minshew could have an easier time if Browns defender Myles Garrett is hindered by his injury, but the rest of the unit is solid. With star wide receiver Davante Adams (hamstring) and TE Michael Mayer (personal) both ruled out for Week 4, Minshew will have to rely on tight end Brock Bowers and wideouts Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker to get the job done. Minshew is not worth starting in any single quarterback leagues in Week 4.--John Johnson - RotoBaller

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew II will be released by the organization when the new league year begins on March 12, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero. The 28-year-old signed a two-year, $25 million contract with the Raiders last offseason but is headed out after just one year. Since being selected in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Washington State, Minshew has thrown for 11,950 yards, 68 touchdowns, and 34 interceptions in 59 game appearances with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts, and Raiders. He is one of the better backup quarterbacks in the NFL, so he will likely draw plenty of interest on the open free-agent market.--Jackson Sparks - RotoBaller

The Athletic's Tashan Reed writes that quarterback Gardner Minshew II was terrible in 10 appearances in 2024 and won't be in the Las Vegas Raiders' plans at quarterback in 2025. The Raiders will free up only $3 million in salary cap space this year while taking a dead-money hit of $10.82 million if they cut him, according to Spotrac. However, if they make him a post-June 1 cut, they'll save $6 million in cap space, with the dead-money hit spread across the next two years -- $7.82 million in 2025 and $3 million in 2026. With Minshew likely being cut this offseason, Aidan O'Connell would be the team's clear starter heading into next season, but the Raiders could draft a new signal-caller, sign one on the open market or trade for someone. Minshew was a first-time Pro Bowler in 2023 with the Colts but threw nine TDs and 10 interceptions in Vegas in 2024 and will be a backup option for anyone that picks him up.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The Las Vegas Raiders have placed quarterback Gardner Minshew II (collarbone) on injured reserve. Given that Minshew has already been ruled out for the remainder of the 2024 season, this is merely a procedural move. He finishes his age-28 campaign having completed 203 of 306 passes for 2,013 yards, nine touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He also took 29 sacks and lost four fumbles. It's been a sloppy year under center for the Raiders, who have given snaps to Minshew, Aidan O'Connell, and Desmond Ridder. Moving forward, Vegas intends to start O'Connell, whom they activated from injured reserve on Thursday. However, he's expected to be on a short leash with Ridder waiting in the wing.--Andersen Pickard - RotoBaller

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew II (collarbone) will miss the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign. The signal-caller, who hasn't had an eventful year in Vegas, suffered a broken collarbone during Sunday's loss to the Denver Broncos. While there was a chance Minshew wouldn't be back under center moving ahead even if he stayed healthy, the latest injury will officially mark the end of his season. With Aidan O'Connell (thumb) on the shelf, the Raiders may hand the keys over to Desmond Ridder, who went 5-for-10 for 64 yards in Week 12. There was also an update from NFL Media's Ian Rapoport early on Sunday that the team may be interested in Daniel Jones, at least once he clears waivers and hits the open market.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBaller
