Freddy Peralta Strikes Out Six In Two Innings Thursday
4 years agoMilwaukee Brewers pitcher Freddy Peralta looked solid in his first game of the year, allowing no runs on two hits and three walks while striking out six in two innings against the Twins. Peralta's relief appearance came as a surprise to many, since he had been previously named the fifth starter in the rotation, but according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com, the team's plan since mid-March had been to use Peralta in relief on Opening Day, and then starting him through the rest of the season. It was certainly an odd plan, but it appears it worked out well for Milwaukee as they hung on to get the Opening Day win. Managers should have some slight concern over the fact Peralta walked three in two innings, but he remains a high-strikeout upside pitcher going forward.
