Franmil Reyes' Late-Game Heroics Fall Short
6 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Franmil Reyes went 3-for-5 in Tuesday’s loss to the San Francisco Giants. Reyes punched in the game-tying run in the ninth but the Friars ultimately fell in extra innings. More impressive is the sustained performance of Reyes who continues to command fantasy attention with a .355/.410/.500 slash in September. While he’s lived up to his slugging reputation with 16 bombs in only 266 plate appearances, his development as an all-around hitter has been striking. The 23-year-old rookie has improved his strikeout-to-walk ratio to 0.44 since the All-Star break to accompany a monster .960 OPS. Reyes deserves a crack at an everyday role next year in San Diego and could be a highly-touted late-round flier heading into 2019 fantasy drafts.
