Frankie Montas Strikes Out Five On Opening Day
4 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Frankie Montas allowed one run in four innings with five strikeouts in a no-decision vs the Angels on Opening Day. Montas struggled with his control, he walked three and hit a batter, causing him to burn through 81 pitches in four innings leading to an early hook from manager Bob Melvin. Despite his struggles, it's encouraging Montas allowed just the one run to keep his team in the game, which they would later win in extra innings. Montas hasn't had control issues in the past, his walk-rate last season was just 5.8 percent, so fantasy managers should be able to trust him moving forward. He'll be a popular fantasy option in his next start at home vs Colorado.
