Frankie Montas Removed After One Inning On Sunday
2 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Frankie Montas was removed after pitching just one inning in his start against the Seattle Mariners on Sunday. The reason for his removal isn't clear as of yet. However, several reporters, including A's beat writer Martín Gallegos, have noted that Montas' velocity was down significantly on Sunday. His fastball was topping out at 94.5 mph -- the pitch usually averages between 96 and 97 mph. He gave up two hits, including a solo home run to Julio Rodriguez, in the first inning prior to his removal. Austin Pruitt came in to take over on the mound in the second inning. Stay tuned for updates on Montas' status as we should know more about the situation soon.
