Frankie Montas Now Yankees' Top Target
2 years agoWith right-hander Luis Castillo being traded to the Seattle Mariners on Friday night, Oakland Athletics right-hander Frankie Montas is now the New York Yankees' top starting pitcher target before Tuesday's trade deadline. The Yankees are in on other starters as well, including Pittsburgh Pirates left-hander Jose Quintana. New York definitely needs to bolster their starting rotation, and Montas would do just that. Pitching for the last-place A's, he's gone 4-9 with a strong 3.18 ERA (3.36 FIP), a 1.14 WHIP, 109 strikeouts and 28 walks in 104 2/3 innings over 19 starts. While a move to the American League East would have its challenges, Montas would also be backed by a much better offense in the Bronx.
