Frankie Montas Not At Camp Due To COVID-19
4 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Frankie Montas did not report to A's camp after he tested positive for COVID-19. According to reports, Montas tested positive seven days ago and will report to camp once he clears the league's safety protocols. The right-hander flopped to a 5.60 ERA last season, but his 4.40 SIERA suggests he was a little unlucky in a small sample size of just 53 innings. Montas has shown promising signs in the last two seasons with a strikeout rate of 26 percent and a swinging-strike rate north of 11 percent in both years. Despite flashes of brilliance, fantasy managers should tread cautiously, as his average draft position of 150th overall feels a tad high for a pitcher yet to throw 100 innings in any season of professional ball.
