Frankie Montas Lasts Five Innings Vs Houston
4 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Frankie Montas allowed two runs in five innings and earned his third win of the season vs the Astros Tuesday. It was the first time he lasted five innings since August 8. In his previous three starts, Montas pitched just 10 2/3 innings and allowed 18 runs. The right-hander started the year strong, but has been too inconsistent to trust since he was scratched from a start with back tightness on August 14. Both his FIP and xFIP are over 4.50 and he is averaging less than a strikeout-per-inning. He's a fine streamer when he has a good matchup but he's been too unreliable to be a consistent starter in standard-size leagues.
