Frankie Montas Dominates Mariners
4 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Frankie Montas fired seven strong innings while earning his first win of the season Monday night in Seattle. Montas allowed just one run and struck out nine in the dominant performance. Montas did struggle with his control a little, he issued four walks, but was able to generate 12 swinging strikes to help get the big strikeout when he needed one. Montas pitched to a 2.63 ERA with a 3.00 FIP before his suspension last season and seems to have picked up right where he left off as the ace of the A's staff. He's a must-own pitcher in fantasy leagues, but could be benched in his next start Saturday in a daunting matchup with Houston.
