Francisco Alvarez Just 2-For-20 At Triple-A
2 years agoNew York Mets catching prospect Francisco Alvarez has gained a lot of attention recently as the team has mentioned him as a potential call-up on the horizon this year. He was promoted to Triple-A earlier this month and he has struggled so far in his limited exposure to the top level of the minors. Over six games, he's gone just 2-for-20 at the plate with eight strikeouts. The 20-year-old is currently ranked by MLB Pipeline as the top prospect who is not currently in the majors -- No. 2 overall behind Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene. He compiled 18 homers while posting a .922 OPS over 67 games at Double-A before his recent promotion so it stands to reason that he'll settle in at Triple-A shortly.
